On January 25, 2015, Sunday, at around 4:00am in the morning, there was an incident that bugged the minds of the whole nation of the Republic of the Philippines , even until now, as 44 (forty-four) policemen were killed in their clash in Mamasapano, Maguindanao against the Moro-Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamaro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF). These policemen, however, were the so-called elite of the Philippine National Police, for they were known as the Special Action Force of the said commando-group and were assigned for a tactical operation in the said whereabouts because of the traces that such place is where two named and known international terrorists hid.
Somehow, as to my reaction to that of the issue, I can say that it was really a punch to the faces of the people who advocated for peace and were into publishing these book of the Basic Bangsamoro Law which was intended for a better (really? better?) relationship between that of the state and the soon-to-be-considered-as a sub-state of the Philippine Islands; the Islamic formation. Why? Well, since these peace advocators are campaigning for harmony and non-violence, but because of that incident in Mamasapano, the table was turned; and somehow the fire of violence and non-peaceful ends was instead kindled, making no room for any chance of holistic peace and harmony. I mean if I were one of the advocators, I would decline such peace aims and would rather influence others in not doing so. This is because, if they are really for peace, why are they using arms? Well, you cannot implement peace with an actual weapon in your hand; it's like you're saying that peaceful ends can be attained through non-peaceful means. Nevertheless, that is only based from my observation.
Somehow, such case is like that of the Taoist idea indicated in the Tao Te Ching, 69 where it was said that: "To confront enemies without seeming to meet them, To hold weapons without seeming to have them". In other words, to confront the enemies, one must not appear to them and meet them as an enmity or nemesis, but rather as a fellow who prefers the good of all the parties. And somehow, in encountering the said enemy, there is no need to carry genuine hostile arms that would create a notion of antagonism, but rather one must hold his true weapon, which is his peaceful passion to acquire such hopes for peace. For as how Gandhi would say: "There is no way to peace, peace is the way"; One cannot pursuit for peace, but he can do and act peace.
